Welcome to Foundation Fitness

My name is Kirsten and I am the proud owner of Foundation Fitness and Wellbeing.

Kirsten, head-trainer and owner of Foundation Fitness and Wellbeing.

I started in the fitness industry back in the 80s (think Jane Fonda).

From there I worked in health and fitness clubs in London, Sydney and Auckland.

I then moved to a small town in western Queensland where I started fitness classes for locals while raising my two small children.

We then settled here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast which has been our home for over 10 years.

Part of my journey saw me separate from my husband and co-parent our kids while starting up my own business Foundation Fitness and Wellbeing.

Now that my kids are out working and at University, I have more time for myself.

During Rugby season most weekends I am either watching my daughter Holly play for UQ or my son Harry here on the coast.

In my youth I trained as a gymnast representing Great Britain. My inspiration is my very fit and healthy 84-year-old mother who most days you will find at Moffat Beach swimming or sunbaking.

Over the years I have taught many styles of fitness and seen so many fads come and go. I have trained a variety of clients and loved every minute of it. I really appreciate the joy my clients bring to my day.

I can honestly say getting up at 4am to train with my clients isn’t that hard to do when you enjoy it.  But as my clients always know – I am in bed at 8pm most nights.

Exercise really is the foundation of youth. It keeps us mobile, strong and healthy as we get older. Maintaining lean muscle as we age is the key and at Foundation there is a big focus on strength training for all ages and abilities. We don’t push you beyond your limits but build your resistance over time.

Besides strength we also offer a variety of classes for all aspects of your fitness journey.

From stretch and yoga classes to help with mobility to strength and circuits to help build muscle and flexibility as well as for a healthy heart.

Foundation Fitness and Wellbeing is not only a place to move our bodies, but we also believe in the value of connecting with others.

There is a great community spirit here and we have many fun social events to bring everyone together - be it hiking in our beautiful Glasshouse Mountains or taking on the Tree Tops Challenge.
