Frankie the dog is pilate's trainer Mel's pride and joy

I can’t live without my ……dog Frankie.

I am most proud of? I am really proud of myself for completely stepping out of my comfort zone to teach pilates - it’s not something I ever would have imagined myself doing.

In my spare time I like to… walk, listen to music, read, go out for coffee/food, connect with good friends.

What happens when you don’t work out? Working out motivates me in all areas of my life so if I’m not exercising then I’m definitely not eating well or taking care of myself in other ways.

My guilty obsession is….? Trashy reality shows on Netflix.

My least favourite piece of equipment is (you guessed it) - the poor old Assault bike!

My favourite exercise is… Anything core/abdominal exercise & I also love cardio - I know…crazy.

My least favourite exercise is… I don’t love running (or deadlifts, sorry Kirsten!)

The thing I love the most about my job is… Connecting to all the people in the gym and especially going for coffee after class.

Best piece of advice?
Fake it until you make it. When I was starting up my in my business and someone told me that to act confident even when I was really terrified. So I did and it worked.

I am inspired by strong and brave people that are not afraid to give something a try. I admire people that can put their ideas into action as I have lots of ideas and not always a lot of action.

Foundation fitness is a warm and friendly gym where people look forward to coming.

Foundation Fitness and Wellbeing is different from other studios and gyms because

It’s the first gym I have ever joined that feels like home. It gives you a sense of belonging and community.

The trainers really care about everyone’s total wellbeing but more importantly it feels like we are all in this together.

I love that not once in nearly three years have I dreaded a workout - I always look forward to it and get excited about who will be there.

I live by a couple of mantras

‘A negative mind will never give you a positive life’.

‘You are responsible for your own happiness’.

Also this one was a lightbulb moment for me

‘Your thoughts are not facts’.

What is the key to your wellbeing?
For my mental wellbeing I need lots of exercise, being outdoors and spending quality time with the people I love and that gives me energy.

How do you find the energy even when you don’t feel it?
Think about the coffee afterwards!

How do you keep the consistency?
Do things that you enjoy and make it a priority. I don’t even think about it now, it’s not a choice I just go.

Three tips to help someone stay focused.
1. Have a goal but also knowing what you need to do to get there.
2. Be accountable to someone - a friend you go to the gym with or your trainers. 3. Have a routine - make it a habit.

What would you do if you $1 million in the lottery?
I would buy a little beach shack with a big garden and adopt lots of dogs.

Things I love about the Sunshine Coast? Relaxed and laid back, of course all the beautiful beaches and perfect weather (most of the time)

If I had to choose sleep or working out I would choose? In the morning I would choose working out, in the evening I would choose sleep.

Are you a winter or summer person? Neither - Spring and Autumn are my favourites.

Sits up or pull ups? Sit ups

Rower, ski machine or Assault Bike? Rower

Wine, cocktails, spirts or beer or just love been dry?
Normally wine but currently doing a 90 day alcohol free challenge & really enjoying that.
